    Political Activities
    • The political journey began in 1974 and served as the District President of the Youth Wing, All India Jana Sangh Youth Front.
    • Imprisoned during the Emergency in 1975.
    • Elected as a Member of Parliament for Eight Terms, 1989-2009 (consecutive 6 terms), 2014-2024 (consecutive 2 terms) from same parliamentary constituency – 25 Loksabha Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
    Achievements
    • Established Numerous ESIC Hospitals: Ensured healthcare accessibility for nation’s workforce across the country as a part of social security.
    • Promoted Handloom Industry: Instituted Handloom Day on 8th August to boost and give a distinct identity to the handloom sector.
    • Extended Maternity Leave: Increased maternity leave to 26 weeks, supporting working mothers.
    • Opportunities for Women in Mines: Enabled women to work in underground mines, promoting gender equality in the workforce.
    • Implemented Pradhan Mantri – Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana : A social welfare scheme (pension scheme) for unorganized sector workers .
    • Reformed Minimum Wage Regulations: Played a pivotal role in improving minimum wage standards.
    • 4 Labour Codes passed by Parliament replacing 29 Central Labour Laws (out of 44 existing central laws) namely, Code on Wages, 2019; Code on Social Security (SS), 2020; Industrial Relations (IR) Code, 2020 and Occupational, Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH & WC) Code 2020.
    • Established Bharat Sewa Trust in Bareilly, a non-profit organization committed to social welfare and community service since its establishment in 2001. Since its establishment it has benefitted thousands of people through cataract operations which is held 3 times annually every year.
    • Led the establishment of Urban Co-operative Bank Limited Bareilly and as founding chairman led the growth of bank since it’s founding in 1996. The multi-state cooperative bank, has grown its presence and is now operates through its 15 branches spread in Bareilly & its neighbouring districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
